At least one son, John Hyme (born 1842), enlisted in the Union Army during the Civil War. According to the Official Roster of the Soldiers of the State of Ohio, John enlisted, at age 19, on 21 Aug 1861. He served with Company H, Ohio 30th Infantry Regiment and mustered out on 13 Aug 1865 at Little Rock, AR.

providing food, clothing, medical attendance, nursing and burial
expenses, for the said Johy Hymes, deceased and his widow Frederica
Hymes, the receipt where of is hereby acknowledged, do hereby grant,
Bargain, sell and convey to the said Mary Hymes and her heirs and
assigns forever the following described real estate- wit: Situated in
the County of Fairfield in the State of Ohio and known and distinguished
by being the North part of the South West Quarter of the South East
Quarter of section number twenty seven (27) Township No. fourteen (14)
of Range No. nineteen (19) and containing twenty acres of land more or
less, and being the same premises as was owned by John Hymes senior
during his life time and the grantor herein Frederica Hymes and all the
estate, in equity, of, in and to the said premises; together with all
the privileges and appurtenances to the same belonging, and all the
rents, issues and profits there of so have and to hold the same to the
only proper use of the said grantee, and her heirs and assigns forever
and the said grantors for themselves and for their heirs, executors and
administrators, do hereby leavenant with the said grantee, her heirs and
assigns, that they are the true and lawful owners of the said premises,
and have full power to convey the same; that the title so conveyed, is
clear, free and unencumbered; and further, that they will Warrant and
Defend the same against all claim, or claims, of all persons whomsoever. |
