40. Caspar SCHNEIDER (I)

Information from  St. Rose Catholic Church, Eastern Ave., Cincinnati, OH; Calvary Cemetery, Evanston (Cincinnati), OH; Cincinnati Volksfreund death notice.
Williams Cincinnati Directory 1881 listed "Schneider, Kaspar, saloonkeeper, 930 Eastern Ave," along with Caspar Jr. (Street Car) conductor, of 930 Eastern Ave, and Frank, barkeep, 930 Eastern Ave. 1883 Directory lists a Casper Schneider, saloonkeeper of same adress along with a Frank, painter.  Birthplace established through baptismal record of Catholic Church in Urloffen, Offenburg, Baden.    Baptismal record states birthdate as January 5th though tombstone states January 16 or 6. Discrepancy between dates of Jan 5th and 16 could also be the difference between the Julian and Gregorian calendars (10-11 days).    Mairrage record at St Peters Catholic Church, St Peters, St Charles, Missouri. ST Charles County record reports that mairrge was solemnized by Joseph Rauch, Catholic Priest.
Mairrage record per St Charles County Mairrage Records (Deeds Office), pg 214, by 111 and St Peters Chrch, p. 15.
St Charles County records indicate at least 7 suits against Caspar some including his brother, Lazarus.  Caspar and Lazarus had apparently signed several sizable notes for land and were unable to repay the debts.  The suits were brought against them to recoup losses.  Plaintiffs included their brother-in-law, husband of Christina Schneider, and Anton Schneider, possibly Franz Anton their oldest surviving brother.  The last suit from 1863 mentioned that Caspar was at risk for a quick exit from the state of Missouri.   Carroll Maddux of Cincinnati, a Rehg descendant, stated that "someone" told him that Caspar died in an asylum.  This will need to be researched.
